In the wake of the Battle of Katze Plains, the banner of Ainz Ooal Gown flies proudly over the city of E-Rantel. The Sorcerous Kingdom has entered the world’s stage to the clamour of death and devastation; the surrounding nations fearfully prepare even as they reel from its calamitous debut. Within the borders of the newly annexed realm, its Human subjects cower in their homes as the Undead openly walk the streets and stalk the lands. Yet, when a destitute noble finds herself under the auspices of an unlikely benefactor, events are set into motion that will resound over the world for ages to come.A kingdom builder based on the events and setting of Kugane Maruyama’s Overlord. In a fantasy world where beings of matchless power are transmigrated from the arbitrary existence of a game, Valkyrie’s Shadow chronicles the lives of the natives whose reality has been turned upside down by their advent. It is the tale of a nation created by the whims of a supreme sovereign, and his unstoppable servants who each have their own, often twisted, interpretations of their Master’s Will. There is no victory in strength; no miracles wrought from magic that will save them: only the inexorable advance of a new world order where those who secure a place of service within will find themselves turned against the world that they once knew.[Slow buildup. Methodical storytelling with a focus on well-rounded kingdom building and character development.] Collapse

A good novel but without knowledge of Overlord you cannot really understand the point. Plus this novel isn´t for people who like fighting scenes as this is mostly a description of daily life. I love this novel exactly because of this and If you don´t mind the detailed descriptions of people, places and lives with long dialogue on important topics then this novel isn´t for you.TLDR: A good novel for in-depth readers without much fighting.
Unless you read Overlord LN, don't even bother reading. Novel is very detailed in its description to the point that it gets mundane and boring. Whole bunch of talking scenes and very little action scenes(fighting). There has to be a balance to intrigue the reader. If you like reading about people's daily life then it's probably for you. This fanfic novel(very bland) is different from the actual Overlord LN(very good), different author plus different approach. Would I recommend, no. Something to waste your time on, probably.
reading this seems tiring if it took the first half a paragraph to describe someone sighing. followed by excessive feathering of irrelevant adjectives and a little backward sentence structuring. Also its a lot ask of us to keep second guessing whoevers in the narrating perspective with opinions towards whomever else. cant you let us readers just relax instead decoding, editing and restructuring just to see if its worth all that effort. rantovr

If you like the Overlord novel try this one, it will amaze you.It focus on sidecharacters (natives) of the new world and starts right after Nazarick takes over E-Rantel. Several NPCs do show up and they are faithful to the origin material.Very well written and VERY detailed. The author definitely knows how to write and you can feel he researched a lot about the world of Overlord. If you like the novel go and support him on RoyalRoad too.
This is the only fanfic I would ever read.. it is fayah!! 🔥🔥🔥,.. To those who are having trouble finding good works to read, To you I recommend this GREAT! MASTERPIECE!! It may be a fanfic but it has it's own significant weight. This is a MUST read..
Try HP: A Magical Journey - you'll soon take back ur "only fanfic I'll ever read" comment
true, it's definitely the best fanfic i've ever come across
what's it about?
It's a classic transmigration into the Harry Potter world style novel, with an OP protag ... but for some reason it's miles above the rest, probably because the canon events don't change as much and it's like reading my favourite novel in a whole new way.
lots of terms are thrown at you & you are left wondering what they are and what is happening. So unless you are familiar with another JP light novel Overlord by Kugane Maruyama, you will find this difficult. Hence a 3/5 for me.
Or its anime. If I remember correctly overlord currently has 15 volumes and this novel approximately starts at 10th volume. So you can either read from start or you can watch the 3 seasons of overlord which is faster but it skips some things as anime usually does. If you dont then probably it wont be as impactful as if you know the overlord.
If you don't mind me asking, can I know where you read the novels? I keep searching but I just can seem to find it.
I read from fan releases of Overlord sub-reddit. You can find the link below:https://drive.google.com/drive/mobile/folders/1S-1gZsbSN4LVBdFMNLF0t1v44wxWyizF
From what I read in other comments (posted later than you), this novel is a fanfiction about Overlord you just mentioned. Now I didn't yet read either, and I know now which one to start with. You may already know, but I assume it's a good thing next readers should but don't yet know.Good day to you !
Brilliant novel
